the success of his career. Before you can enjoy with your horses, here you have

some recommendations to guarantee a quality experience over time.

During the installation of the EquoSol cover, our technical manager will visit the site

to check the good preparation and installation of your race.

1/ Earthworks and leveling

Leveling land for an equestrian arena is a crucial step that influences the quality of the final ground and, consequently, the safety and comfort of the horses.

General procedure for leveling:

1. Evaluate the site:

• Examine the terrain, look for natural slopes and water evacuation areas.

• Ensure good natural drainage.

2. Clean:

• Remove existing vegetation, stones and other obstacles from the ground

.

3. Initial level:

• Level the ground to obtain a flat and regular surface.

4. Soil compaction:

• Use vibrating compaction equipment to ensure good soil stability.

5. Equalization:

• Carry out careful leveling to avoid low areas or highlights. The ideal slope for an equestrian arena depends on several factors, including the nature of the soil, the local climate and the type of intended use. However, a recommended slope to promote optimal drainage is generally between 1 and 2%.

Here are some considerations:

• 1% to 2% Slope: This slight slope allows water to flow efficiently without creating slippery surfaces for horses.

• Drainage direction: The slope should be oriented to facilitate drainage away from the equestrian arena. This may require an evaluation of the surrounding terrain.

• Rainwater drainage: Make sure you have rainwater drainage devices, such as drainage channels, to prevent water accumulation.

• Soil stability: The slope must also adapt to the stability of the soil. In some cases, an earthmoving professional may recommend a specific slope or slight crest based on soil characteristics.

• Easy maintenance: A moderate slope also makes track maintenance easier. It is always recommended to consult an earthmoving professional or technician specialized in equestrian facilities to ensure the slope is appropriate for your specific situation. These experts can take into account the unique characteristics of your site and the specific needs of your equestrian arena.

2/ Mineral soil

The ideal thickness of gravel for draining clay soil depends on several factors, including the initial drainage capacity of the soil, the local climate, and the type of intended use. However, usually a layer of gravel with a thickness of at least 15 to 40 cm.

Here are some points to keep in mind:

• Efficient drainage: A thicker layer of gravel allows for more efficient drainage by helping to quickly drain excess water from clay soil.

• Type of Gravel: Use suitable quality gravel, usually 0-80 mm in size, to ensure sufficient permeability.

• Geotextile: In the case of clay soils, the use of a geotextile between the clay soil and the gravel to prevent migration of

fine clay particles into the gravel.

• Local Climate: Local weather conditions, including the level of precipitation, can influence the thickness needed for optimal drainage.

• Soil Evaluation – A thorough soil evaluation by a professional can help determine the specific thickness needed based on soil characteristics.

However, it is recommended to install a minimum of 15 cm of mineral base in the case of sandy soil with a slope of up to 40 cm in the case of clay soil in a flat area.

3/ EquoSol Cover

Once your base is created, you can install your EquoSol cover as follows:

• Surface materials:

Add a 15cm layer of EquoSol calibrated pine shreds.

• Leveling:

Make sure the surface of the EquoSol cover is flat and even.

• Final compaction:

Compact the top layer to ensure a stable and safe surface.

• Slope check:

Checking that the quarry has an adequate slope for water drainage.

• Evidence:

Perform compaction tests to ensure soil stability.

• Monitoring:

Monitor the floor over time to ensure it remains in good condition and make adjustments if necessary.

Our quality manager can be present during delivery and installation to advise you on installation and verification.
